I Have A Nissan Maxima 2009...21,000 Miles...the Telescoping Motor, As Well

as the tilting motor is not responding and will have to be replaced...of course, the warranty expired in May...is this usual for a car that is only 3 years old...have there been other complaints about this situation???  I am told it will cost me $815 for the repairs...or i was told to disconnect the switch from the driver's side door so the motors will not try to move automatically, and to leave the wheel in one position...this is one of the selling points of the auto...can you give me any assistance with this problem???
