Microsoft Office 2010

Microsoft Project 2010 has worked fine for me, until today when the error "Microsoft Project has encountered a problem and needs to close" appeared when trying to open .mpp format file. I have restarted the program, restarted my laptop, and have restarted my internet connection (which works fine) numerous times. Can someone help how to fix mpp file?

The error is caused by a setting in Project Server 2010 that is specified by your Project Server administrator. To locate this setting, log into PWA with administrator permissions and then click Server Settings > Additional Server Settings.

Try to open the file without Project. For example with the help of MPP Open File Tool
