The previous answer is wrong or at best misleading. You don't need a bank account to send or receive money through PayPal. However, you do need a bank account if you want to withdraw money from your PayPal account.

To open a PayPal account you need a valid credit card [which is a type of bank account] or a conventional bank account. (Most although not all credit cards must be linked to a conventional bank account.)

I assume from your question that you think you need a bank account to open a Paypal account. You only need a valid credit card which could be attached to your bank, but you can use Paypal like a bank for your sales if that is what you want to do.
