Bobbin Thread Catching

My machine was working fine until I had to change to a new bobbin. I can loop the bobbin thread up with the top thread without difficulty, but after 2-3 stiches now the bobbin thread gets caught on an outhanging metal piece for the bobbin mechanism below. I tried with several bobbins thinking one just didn't fit correctly but had the same problem. I had this problem once before a few years ago just after inheriting the machine but after servicing and adjusting the tension it's been fine, and it was working great with the previous bobbin.
