What Causes The Sound On The Tv To Stop Working?

I've seen where some people put their TV in the SAP mode by accident. then sometimes they select a channel where there is no audio or Spanish or some other audio program. They change channels and it seems OK. All they need to do is set the audio back to "stereo" through the audio menu or with the MTS button.
