What Would Cause The Brakes To Not Work Properly Sometimes?

I have a 2004 L300 Series Saturn that every once in awhile the brakes will not work properly - when I go to press down on peddle the peddle goes all the way to the floor and vehicle "coast" to a stop. Sometimes I can pump them and it will work but not the case all the time. We have replaced the master cylinoid (sp??) and the hub on the front left tire. Any other suggestions?
