- Try using your spare key. If the vehicle turns on, the transponder in the other key is dead. Take it to a dealership to get it fixed.
- Unlock your door and disconnect your battery to reset the vehicle's computer and turn the anti-theft system off.
- Manually reset the transponder connection by turning the key to the "on" position for 10 minutes, then turn it "off" for 30 seconds. Repeat the process 3 times.

A dead or weak battery. The anti-theft system needs power to function, so if the battery is low, it may not be able to recognize the key.
A faulty key fob. The key fob contains a chip that sends a signal to the anti-theft system. If the chip is damaged or the battery is dead, the system may not recognize the key.
A problem with the ignition switch. The ignition switch is what tells the anti-theft system that the key is in the ignition. If the switch is faulty, it may not be able to send the correct signal to the system.
A problem with the anti-theft system itself. The anti-theft system is a complex piece of electronics, and it can sometimes malfunction. If you've checked the battery, key fob, and ignition switch and the car still won't start, it's possible that the anti-theft system itself is the problem.
Here are some things you can try to fix the problem:
Check the battery. Make sure that the battery is properly connected and that the terminals are clean and free of corrosion. You can also try jump-starting the car.
Replace the key fob battery. If the key fob battery is dead, replace it with a new one.
Inspect the ignition switch. Look for any damage or corrosion. If you see any damage, you may need to replace the switch.
Reset the anti-theft system. There is a way to reset the anti-theft system on your Saturn VUE. You can find instructions in your car's owner's manual.
If you've tried all of these things and your car still won't start, you may need to take it to a mechanic to have the anti-theft system diagnosed and repaired.
Here are some additional tips to help you avoid this problem in the future:
Keep the battery well-maintained. Make sure that the battery is properly charged and that the terminals are clean and free of corrosion.
Avoid using a weak or dead key fob. If the key fob battery is low, it may not be able to send a strong enough signal to the anti-theft system.
Be careful not to damage the ignition switch. The ignition switch is a delicate piece of equipment, so be careful not to bend or twist it.
Keep the anti-theft system clean. Dirt and debris can build up around the anti-theft sensors and prevent them from working properly.
By following these tips, you can help prevent the anti-theft system in your 2004 Saturn VUE from malfunctioning.
