Disconnect the negative battery terminal. This will prevent any electrical shorts while you are working on the car.
Locate the automatic transmission cable. It is a long, metal cable that runs from the shifter to the transmission.
Remove the two retaining clips that hold the cable in place. These clips are located on the shifter and the transmission.
Pull the cable out of the shifter and the transmission. Be careful not to damage the cable.
Install the new cable. Reverse the steps above to install the new cable.
Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
Here are some additional tips for removing the automatic transmission cable from the shifter on a 2008 Saturn Vue:
Make sure that the car is in Park before you start working on it.
Use a flashlight to help you see the retaining clips.
Be careful not to damage the cable when you are pulling it out.
If you are having trouble removing the cable, you may need to use a pair of pliers.
I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.
