When Discount Is Taken The Tax Is Calculated On Non-discount Amount.

How do we program the register (Sharp XE-A207) correctly for the tax when a discount is used. Currently, the tax is being charged on the non-discounted amount. For example, item is $10, 10% discount is given but register charges tax on $10 instead of on discount of $9.00.
