My Phone Won't Receive Some Texts, Is There A Way I Can Fix It?

For instance, I can send a text message to a person and then their reply comes back just fine, sometimes.  Other times their replies I will get DAYS later than when they orginally sent the message (I know this from the time stamps/confimring with the people sending me the messages).  Also, someone can text me and I won't recieve their message until DAYS after the orginal text.  My question is is there a way to fix this problem?
