Earforce Xla - Doesn't Work...

So I'm using HDMI on my TV, I have the XLa USB in the back of my XBox, and can only hear myself talk, so that means the Mic works. I have the XBox 2.5mm (Or whatever) plug, in the Xbox controller... I have the Red and White cables plugged into the corisponding input in my TV... I do not have the Xbox cables for Red + White input, though... So I hoped it worked, it worked for a brief second, I hear Xbox notifications for a minute, then it didn't work...
