Track by E-mail
You can track up to 25 UPS shipments at once by sending your tracking numbers in an e-mail message to the UPS e-mail tracking address. To find this e-mail address, select Tracking at the top of your country's home page, then select Track by E-mail. You can also access this information by selecting the link below.

 

Tracking by Reference
Whenever you create a shipment, you can assign it a shipment reference that easily coordinates with your billing or filing systems or those of your customers. This reference can contain any combination of letters and numbers and can be a Purchase Order (PO) number, a customer´s job number, a Bill of Lading number, or even a group of words that identifies the shipment, such as "gift for Mom." Use this reference to track your shipment by going to the main Tracking page and selecting the Track by Reference link to the left of the page. Input your reference in the Shipment Reference field, indicate whether your shipment is package or freight, and select your shipping dates. Then select the Track button.

This is happening to me right now.  I shipped a package to myself while on vacation and lost my tracking number.  A UPS manager told me since I paid with a credit card the tracking number is associated with the credit card transaction.  It was indeed on my credit card billing statement which I was able to access online.  I don't know what would have happened had I not used a credit card though.

I have been battling UPS Service, and they say the only way (real way) is to contact the origin of the label, or if you mailed it in personally (at a store) they can provide it for you if you give them your phone number and date of mailing. UPS Customer Service cannot* give a tracking number.
