Cancelled Flights Due To Hurricane Sandy

My original booking was roundtrip from MDT to COS (Thu. Oct 25, 2012 with return on United on Tues. Oct. 30th, COS to O'Hare, then CHIcago to MDt.  United airlines confirmation # AKMVD5.  With all of the flight cancelations due to Hurricane Sandy, I was advised to rebook for PA for Fri. Nov. 2nd (Airline confirmation#IZSDPB).  Then I was charged an additional $364.10; after I had already paid the $419.70 for roundtrip.  I was told at the COS airport by a United representative that if I would contact you by email, some rebate would be issued for the Oct. 30th cancellations. As a Senior citizen, who really neede to return back home to PA. and as a past Untied flier, I would hope that your airline wouldn't take unfair advantage of a catastrophic storm situation. I had been advised to stay in Co. until the weather front cleared by your agent. I am asking for either a fly voucher or a rebate/refund for my cancelled flights on Oct. 30th, due to the severe weather conditions. I did understand the conditions were awful for flying and did rebook; but I think it unfair to be charged double when that hurricane was not my fault. Please Advise. I look forward to your reply as soon as possible as I plan to fly to COS again at the end of the month, and would like to use United with some peace of mind for your fairness in adverse situation. You definitely should qualify for a refund or some sort of credit for the additional cost you incurred.  The airlines are offering different types of waivers and exceptions for the hurricane last week.  ]

Call this number and ask if they can transfer you to customer care:        1-800-UNITED-1 (1-800-864-8331)
