You should carry your medications with you onboard the flight. In fact, you should never put your medications in your checked bag. Keep in mind that you may be asked to check your carry-on bag at the gate due to space constraints in the cabin. It is your responsibility to remove your medications before giving your bag to a flight attendant or agent at the gate. Our aircraft do not have refrigerators on board, so please plan accordingly. Also, if you use needles to inject medication, have your doctor's prescription with you just in case security officers have questions.

As far as packing liquids, there are restrictions and limitations if you intend to carry the liquids on board.  If you intend to pack shampoo in your checked baggage, it is much less restrictive.

Here are the restrictions for carrying liquids on board the aircraft:

Carry-on baggage

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is currently requiring enhanced security measures for all flights departing from non-U.S. locations to the United States. Additionally, limits have been placed on the number and size of carry-on bags permitted on board flights departing Canada.

We recommend that you ensure that any liquids, aerosols or gels that are included in your carry-on bags adhere to the restrictions currently in place.

Customers are advised to arrive at the airport one (1) hour prior to normal processing times.

For details regarding TSA security measures, go to www.tsa.gov. For details regarding carry-on bags for flights from Canada, go toTransport Canada.

If you are traveling with any liquid, gel or aerosol items, here are a few things you should remember:

  • Customers departing from U.S. airports on any flight may bring carry-on bags through security and aboard the aircraft with trial-size toiletries (3.4 ounces or less) which can be purchased at any drug store.
  • Toiletries must fit comfortably in one, quart-size (7.5-inch x 8-inch), clear plastic zip-top bag.
  • The zip-top bag may need to be presented separately at airport security so make sure it is easily accessible when you approach the screening area.

Additionally, beverages or toiletries purchased inside the airport beyond the security checkpoints will be allowed onboard the aircraft.

If you are connecting to another flight and are required to reenter through a security checkpoint, the regulations outlined above will apply, and no exemption will be made for items you purchased in the boarding area of your originating airport.

Items greater than 3.4 ounces and/or not contained in a zip-top bag may be allowed on board but must be declared to the TSA at the security checkpoint for screening. These items include baby formula, milk (to include breast milk), baby food, juice, medications and liquids/gels that are needed for diabetic or other medical conditions.

Restrictions vary for flights departing from non-U.S. locations. Travelers should check with the departure airport for specific security restrictions.
