United Dropped My Carry On, That Was Gate Checked.

Need to know who to contact regarding the fact that yesterday the gate attendents dropped my carry on. I was traveling standy and they sent me last on, told me to hurry, then said they needed to gate check my bag since there was no room left on board the smaller aircraft. Reluctantly I handed it over knowing my lap top was inside. Then I saw it fall off the cart!! The glass on the screen broke and the unit is severely dented on the side where it struck the pavement. I was told United would not cover the cost of what they did to my 1000.00 computer. I can send proof of flight, baggage check ticket and photo. Please tell me where to turn.....
