Up Grade Fee

why was I charge a up grade fee of $30.00 when my contract says I get a free upgrade after two years?

That's the "upgrade/activation fee". The phone itself was free but they still charge you the $30 fee. Sometimes you can get out of it by calling Verizon. Sprint has the same type of fee and I was able to get it waived by calling them.
