Turning Off E-mail Notification

I have a Samsung Reality phone with Verizon. Can I turn off the e-mail notification without turning off the e-mail reception. I get a lot of junk mail and it interferes with my phone use ?

Open the email, select Preferences (page 2). From there you can change to the option of never notifying you when you get an email.
