How To Switch From 420p To 1080i

1. Turn on the Vizio TV.

One benefit of changing your Vizio TV's standard-definition 480i format to high-definition 1080i format is that it helps to protect your screen from burn-in. Stationary images such as logos and black bars commonly cause burn-in if left on the screen for a while. Leftover shadows of those images remain on the screen when burn-in has occurred. The 480i signals use a 4-to-3 aspect ratio and display standard broadcasts in the traditional screen size. Black bars are seen on the left and right sides of the screen. Overall, the widescreen 1080i,16-to-9 aspect ratio may be a better choice for longer periods of TV viewing.

1. Press the "Menu" button in the middle of the navigation wheel on the remote control, and then press the down arrow button and select "Setup."
