How To Configure A Wii System/vcr/and A Dvd Surround Sound System

I have the Wii in AV 1and the DVD surround sound is in AV 2 along with a HDMI port.If I don`t run the surround this way I get a purple picture.AV 3 is for S video.I can I connect all 3
