Working With Yosimite.
How do I get my backup to work. worked before I got to Mavericks/Yosimite. Is there a driver to download ? Will not let me encrypt

Have you possibly formatted the drive with Windows? If so it may be formatted NTFS and the Mac does not read those. Reformatting for fat could solve it. You can obtain a manual for the drive via this Helpowl link
