Gi6farxxy07 What Is The Small Tray On The Top Of Left Door Supposed To Be For?

What is the small tray on the top of left door supposed to be for? It is tapered and then bows out toward the open side of the door. The only thing that fits is a small bottle in the bowed out section. As far as I can tell it is not for butter as there is no little door.
