New Whirlpool Wtw4800x Takes 2-4 Minutes To Begin Filling. Is This Normal?

I like to add the detergent, then wait until a certain amount of water is added, then open the lid & swish the water around to dissolve the detergent, before adding my clothes.  But this process has now increased 10 fold.  It appears that the washer goes through several "trial start up periods" before water is added.  Is this normal?  Can this period be shortened?

Generally this means it is sensing the load. If the load is very light it could be that it doesn't really know there is anything in there for a bit.
