The Service Manual Is Very Helpful But Maybe I Didn't Explained My Problem
correctly. I bought the printer without a hard drive it was removed by the previous owner. Ibought a new Drive the same as whe original but without dadt on it. If I power the printer on without the drive installed it bascially tells me I am missing the drive. when I install the new drive the printer powers on but the display screen shows nothing and touch pad is non responsive. Do I need special software installed on the drive to prompt comands on the printer. does this require propritary software only supplied by Xerox tech. thanks

Hi, it seems that after replacing the hard drive (it must be a 40GB hard drive) you have to write special data to the hard drive from the NV-RAM. The procedure for doing so can be found on page 6-32 of the service manual.
