The previous answer is interesting but your concern does not appear to be how to determine whether or not you've been hacked.

I understand you're unable to log in. Yahoo lays out steps to take in the circumstance. Go to http://help.yahoo.com/kb/index?locale=en_US&y=PROD_ACCT&page=content&id=SLN2069.

Once you're logged in, Yahoo suggest you follow the following steps to change your password and restore safe access: http://help.yahoo.com/kb/index?locale=en_US&y=PROD_ACCT&page=content&id=SLN3516.

Signs that your account has been hacked

Changes have been made to your account information.
There are logins from locations you don't recognize in your Login Activity page.
Your mail account is sending spam.
There are messages in your sent folder that you didn't send.
You're receiving multiple failed delivery messages.
