How Do I Override The Computer's 'judgment' Regarding A Password's Weakness?

I forgot my password for Yahoo--because the computer required me to use some obtuse set of numbers and letters. I had to re-set the password, but the computer will not accept any selection that I have made, even some that are 20 letters long. I find it ridiculous and offensive that a computer can determine if my password is strong/weak. I refuse to allow a computer to make such decisions for me. So, I will likely cancel all of my Yahoo accounts. The icing on the cake was that the customer service reps for computer problems charge to provide assistance!

As you must realize, the computer is not independently rejecting your password; it's rejecting the password on the basis of a protocol determined by Yahoo employees. It appears your issue is with Yahoo's determination to reject some passwords as too weak.

Yahoo does this to protect the privacy of you and its other users. You're certainly entitled to your views that this is not Yahoo's concern; but Yahoo operates on the assumption that these requirements are reasonable.

So by all means leave Yahoo if that is your inclination. Chances are you'll find another email service that will accept your password.

Or you can express your views to Yahoo. You can write Yahoo by snail mail at 701 1st Av., Sunnyvale, CA 94089.
