Yahoo Tells Me I Need To Download Adobe Flash Player

When I click on a Yahoo news video, I get a message that I need to download Adobe Flash Player, but I have that in my system and don't have any problem on other sites. Is there a fix for this?

Although it's usually a good idea to keep your software updated, if the message didn't mention an updated version it may be a scam. In fact Adobe warned users in November that "an attacker illegally entered our network and may have obtained access to [users'] Adobe ID and encrypted password."

It's an easy matter to update without using an link in such a message. A very convenient way is to update most or all of your programs at once, at http://ninite.com/.

If you just want to block the annoying message, consider the suggestions at http://netforbeginners.about.com/od/lockdownyourpc/ss/blockingpopups.htm. For Firefox or Chrome browsers, a very good free product is Adblock Plus together with its Element Hiding Helper.

They are probably just alerting you that a newer version is available! You aren't required to update but to use some sights you may be forced too update.

I hope this is helpful to you!
