Factory resetting an iPhone 12 will erase all content and settings, returning it to its original state. Here are the steps to perform a factory reset on your iPhone 12:

Before You Begin:

Backup Your Data:

iCloud Backup: Go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > iCloud Backup > Back Up Now.

iTunes/Finder Backup: Connect your iPhone to a computer, open iTunes (Windows or macOS Mojave and earlier) or Finder (macOS Catalina and later), select your iPhone, and click "Back Up Now."

Steps to Factory Reset iPhone 12:

Open Settings:

Tap the Settings app on your home screen.

Go to General:

Scroll down and tap on "General."

Reset:

Scroll to the bottom and tap on "Reset."

Erase All Content and Settings:

Tap on "Erase All Content and Settings."

You may be prompted to enter your passcode.

Confirm:

A warning will appear, informing you that this action will delete all media and data and reset all settings. Tap "Erase iPhone" to confirm.

Apple ID Password:

If you have Find My iPhone enabled, you will be asked to enter your Apple ID password to turn it off. Enter your password and tap "Turn Off."

Erase:

Your iPhone will begin the reset process. This may take a few minutes. Once the process is complete, your iPhone will restart and display the initial setup screen.

After Resetting:

Set Up iPhone:

Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your iPhone. You can choose to restore from an iCloud backup, a computer backup, or set up as a new iPhone.

Sign in with Apple ID:

If prompted, sign in with your Apple ID to restore your apps and purchases.
