Progressive rate increases are ridiculous.
When I had an at fault accident, my 6-month rate increased from $400 to $500, which is understandable and acceptable.
But a year and a half later, I moved 20 miles away to a more "rich person" town, and they decided at this time my 6-month rate would be $1200!! more than double. Talking to a representative over the phone concluded that this spike was solely due to the move. After that I got a quote from Geico for $450, and switched immediately.
On a positive note, the one time that I did file a claim for auto insurance, progressive took care of everything quickly and professionally.
