How can I get back to my original e-mail account.

Was your original email account an AT&T account? Have you tried to sign into that account either through the AT&T U-verse website or through Yahoo.com?
Even if you are no longer an AT&T customer, you should still be able to access the account through Yahoo.com. Just click on MAIL and sign in.
