Iphone Locked At&t

my friend bought me iphone but instead of buying it unlocked he bought it locked before he fly to egypt he know that he made mistake so he paid 120 $ to unlock it in 5/4/2014 and until now when i click restore it's keeping telling me sim not valid any help
