How Do I Redeem Flight Money For A Flight I Had To Cancel Recently?

I recently had to cancel a flight to Kansas City and was told by priceline that american airlines would charge me $150 but I could get any flight equal to the value of that one until March,2014.I would like to do that now but just don't know how.Please help!

If you're ready to book new travel, call American Airlines 1-800-433-7300 and give them your ticket number that wasn't used. You'll need that information so they can view your original fare information. The American representative can help book your new flights and will calculate the difference in air fare (if there is any) from your original ticket price, plus the $150 change fee. It may help if your dates are somewhat flexible or if you can fly any time of day unless cost isn't a problem. I always ask them to search and suggest lower priced flights at different times or dates to save money if possible.
