Brother Mfc-8460 Not Printing With Mac Os X 10.6

I have uninstalled and installed the softwares and drivers a few times already. Still, the printer cannot print and my Mac could not open the scanned image properly. Status of the brother printer is "idle, default" when I checked it in printer utility. I am using the usb connection.
