How To Be At The Top Of The Standby List.

I missed my connection due to weather on Tuesday a.m. It is now Thursday p.m. and i am lumped for standby with 40 other people who have not been here for as long as I have. I have been on all possible standby lists, and I've slept at the airport to not miss an opportunity. I am not Tom Hanks. Please help me get a flight out please. I am here with my husband and son. P.S. The airline believes that our luggage may have made it to our destination, but they are not entirely sure of this, they're not even sure if it ever left this airport.
