Ok To Change Time Between Two Flights Without Telling?

I booked a flight for me and my old parents (80-years old) for Las vegas from Copenhagen. In Newark we should have to change flight and had 3,5 hours planed between the flights. That´s ok. Now, when I look in Continentals sajt they have change the flight without telling us at all (now it´s over 5 hours between). -And I even payed a little extra for my choice of flights!! I want the trip so easy as possible for my parents. -How can they just change it without any word..? Who can help me to get my planed flight for me and my old parents (we are going to there granddaughters wedding and the trip should be a pleasant thing for them)
