Remote Is Not Turning On Tv

The remote is not turning on the TV to programs anymore. When I press on button the screen comes on and the TV says "Channel not available". The other TVs in the house are operating fine. I have changed the batteries, turned the TV off/on manually. I may have accidently hit some button on the remote. What do I do next? I am staying at my friend's house, so not even my TV.

You are correct, you probably did press a mode button across the top which means that you can't receive channels. perhaps because the remote is trying to access a different device or one that isn't even connected.

Since you have fresh batteries, try holding down the TV button first and then changing channels.

If that doesn't work, give DirecTv a call and they can walk you through this by phone. 1-800-531-5000 between 8:00am and 1:00am EST - 7 days a week.

Since the call will be answered by an automated switchboard, please indicate that you want Technical Support when prompted - they are there 24/7.

I think you'll be able to reset the remote with a little help from DirecTv.
