I can understand why you would be frustrated. Our receivers come enabled with a power saver feature called "Inactivity Standby". By default, after 4 hours of no activity suchas changing channels, the receiver will prompt to shut off. If you're still watching it then it will allow you to cancel it, if it gets no response it will automatically go to the screen saver.
You can extend or disable this time from the menu. It can usually be found in Main Menu > Preferences > Updates. If you have a 922 it will be in Main Menu > Settings > Updates. If you have a Hopper it will be in Main Menu > Settings > Diagnostics > Updates.
