Aloha,

I think you meant odor. That can be from food particals that build up under the drain in the dish washer. Especially if the dishes sit in the dishwasher for long periods with food. Food particals can cause odors and mold and mildew to grow. Remove the strainer and empty and rinse it. After pour a mixture of white distilled vinegar and baking soda into the strainer. It will foam but that is a good thing. The vinegar kills the germs and disinfects and the baking soda is like scrubbing bubbles. When it finishes foaming close it and run it like normal by putting the cleaning soulution and 3 or 4 tbsp more of baking soda and allow it to dry.

Try to rinse your dishes prior to putting them in the dishwasher if they will not be washed right away. This will help and may prevent future issues with a smelly dishwasher. But you can do this a couple times a month to have the cleanest dishwasher in town too. :0]
