If you allowed the ink cartridges to run out before replacement then it is likely that the print heads are blocked. It uses more than one ink to create the colour so one is advised to replace the cartridges as soon as possible to maintain ink flow. I suggest running the head cleaning program and maybe purchasing some head cleaning cartridges which you use to restore use. I have attached a link to Epson support where FAQs are there to help you and also a means of contacting Epson.
