How Do I Restore An Old Facebook Account?

My husband was in a disbling accident in Sept of 09 and is just now able to start contacting people. He would like to restore his old Facebook account but it is no longer available. Can someone help us restore it so he can try to pick up where he left off?

If he deactivated his account, he can reactivate it at any time simply by logging in with his login email address and password. If he deleted his account, he'll have to start from scratch.
