Should you remove hoses in for winter?

Image result for Frigidaire CPA093DU1 Remove The Hoses For Winter Storage

It's important to remember to detach your garden hoses at the end of the season. Even if you have a "frost-free" spigot, you still need to remove the hose in the winter, or run the risk of your pipes freezing and bursting. Why? Water expands when it freezes, and nothing changes that.

Why do you need to disconnect hoses in winter?

Traditional wisdom states that garden hoses should be disconnected from the outdoor water valve in the winter to prevent freezing of water in the pipes inside the house resulting in bursting of those pipes.
