Broiler Will Not Turn On

When I push the broiler button on the control panel, the light goes on briefly then goes off and the broiler does not turn on.  Is there another step I am missing?  The stove came with the house and does not have a manual.

Have you tried the other settings, like bake, or convection if your unit has it, and the top of the unit? You may just need a broil element. If you are the second owner of the unit you will have to cover the repair out of pocket with most manufacturers.
