Additional Hard Drive Space & Backup Problems

Can I easily add additional hard drive space to this model? Also, occasionally when windows installs updates I lose my capiblilty to backup my pc. I get the following error (and shadowcopy is not the problem): The task image is corrupt or has been tampered with (0x80041321). Any assistance will be appreciated. Thanks
