Blue Picture Tube That Arcs Occasionally, Making A Loud Cracking Sound

My Hitachi 51F59A has a blue picture tube that arcs occasionally, making a loud cracking sound. The picture goes black for a second and then comes right back. So far. A service tech opened the back, and we could see the blue flash when the cracking sound came out. He said I would need to replace all the tubes to keep color balanced, and it would cost far more than the TV is worth. But then I saw tubes for sale for about $28 and wondered if he was just trying to sell me a new set. Is this fixable? Thanks.

actually the anode lead is where it's arcing. I have been successful taking the tube out, disassemble it and remove this lead, then with a bunch of silicone glue reassemble it. This keeps the same tubes, so the balance isn't interrupted. It is a gamble because sometimes the arcing has etched the glass and it will continue to arc along this trail (especially if it's arced many times). Little or no parts but the labor will be around $250 i you take it to a shop (more if done in the home).
