About A Possible Scammer Trying To Close My Hotmail Acct

I just got an email in my junk mail saying it was from hotmailservices.com and it asked me to click on a link and confirm that I wanted to close this hotmail acct-which I never authorized anyone to say such a thing-to close it. But I do not click on anything in junk mail and so I copied and pasted the link into my IE search line and my bit defender said it was unsafe and took me back to safety so I assumed it was someone trying to plant something on my computer, and I deleted the email. But how can I make sure that my acct is not really being closed
