Hotmail Account

I have been receiving emails that say that hotmail needs my user and password for security and if I do not supply that information my account will be blocked. Is this legit?

Absolutely not. Hotmail will never ask for your user name or password in any email. The email you are receiving (as legitimate as it may seem) is someone trying to obtain your account information. You should not reply to these emails, and should delete them immediately.
