Deleted Folder

Is there a certain amount of time that deleted e-mails will stay in my deleted folder before they are automatically deleted? I have been loosing deleted emails that are 1 to 5 days old

I think the deleted mails will stay in the folder for a longer period (pretty sure more than 5 days) however at one point the system cleans it up (may once in 6 months or something)
