I Am Unable To Delete Folders Out Of Hotmail/outlook - They Are Double And Not U

I have tried everything to delete a multitude of Folder out of my Hotmail Account - these are Folder that were once done my Rules and no longer needed - I can not delete these unused folders that are empty and not good for anything - the rules are deleted. I am running the latest version of Safary IE8 on an iMac - any help out there?
