Problem With Email Account

I have an email account with Hotmail and on Tuesday at approx 14.25pm someone has opened my contact list and sent out an email to everyone without my knowledge . I am very concerned as I have McAffee and would like to know what to do next please. Is it a virus or just spam mail. Can you please help me.
