Why The Need For Photo Id For Military Veterens Discount

Last night a clerk at Lowe's informed me that , as of next week, all military veterans will require a military photo id to get the 10% discount.  I can assureyou that as a Vietnam era officer thare was no such thing as a photo id then - and I doubt there is now  - except for active duty and career soldier retirees.

Is this just another way to get out of the 10% discount for veterans?  We older veterans do not have a photo ID available to us.  Why not let us use our DD-214 along with a photo ID of come type (driver's license, etc.)?

Some people impersonate military officers to try to get a discount. I'm sure any kind of ID and proof that you are or were in the military will work.

Experienced the same situation today at Lowes. Vietnam vet here and was refused discount due to lack of photo id. Never had a photo id. Drivers license and DD214 still no discount. However Home Depot took my DD214 and drivers license. Henceforth I will frequent Home Depot and NOT Lowes. Problem solved.
