Removing the motor on a Makita VC4710 vacuum cleaner can be a tricky task, but it's definitely doable with the right instructions and tools. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you out:

Tools you'll need:

Phillips screwdriver

Flathead screwdriver (optional)

Socket wrench and appropriate socket sizes (refer to your vacuum's manual for specific sizes)

Pliers (optional)

Steps:

Unplug the vacuum cleaner and empty the dustbin. Make sure there's no debris or dust left inside.

Remove the hose and attachments. Disconnect the hose from the vacuum body and set it aside. Remove any other attachments like the wand and floor nozzle.

Open the dustbin compartment. Locate the screws or latches that hold the dustbin compartment in place and remove them. Carefully lift the compartment out of the vacuum body.

Disconnect the electrical wires. Look for the wires connected to the motor terminals. Carefully detach them using pliers or your fingers. Make sure to note the color coding of the wires so you can reconnect them correctly later.

Unscrew the motor mounting bolts. Locate the bolts that hold the motor in place. Depending on your model, there might be two or three bolts on the top and bottom of the motor housing. Use the appropriate socket wrench to loosen and remove these bolts.

Carefully remove the motor. Once the bolts are removed, you should be able to gently pull the motor out of the vacuum body. Be careful not to damage any wires or components as you do this.

Here are some additional tips:

Take pictures of the disassembly process at each step. This will help you reassemble the vacuum cleaner correctly later.

Consult your vacuum cleaner's manual for specific instructions and diagrams that might be relevant to your model.

If you're not comfortable with DIY repairs, it's always best to consult a qualified appliance repair technician.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.
